When To Consider 24/7 Live-In Care

Award-Winning Senior Care:
What Families Are Saying

We use Options for my father-in-law who resides in an assisted living facility. Not only are they very caring and attentive, every one of their caregivers has formed a personal bond with him and go above and beyond their duty sending us photos and keeping us involved when we can't be there.

It’s a great relief knowing that I can take a break while my mother is in caring, confident hands with her nurses from Options. It is also comforting to know that her case manager has been available for many discussions about mom’s needs and services which supports us as caregivers. Their support has enabled us to keep mom happy knowing that she is with family and us happy knowing Options has our backs!

Frequently Asked Questions

Home health care focuses on medical treatment and is a clinical service. A nurse or therapist comes to the home for skilled services such as wound care, injections, occupational or physical therapy, usually for a short period after surgery or illness, with a doctor’s order.

Home care is very different. Home care focuses on supporting Activities of Daily Living, which include basic self-care tasks like bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, and continence.

At Options Home Care, we provide hands-on help with everyday life. That includes bathing, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, companionship, memory care, and ongoing support. It is not limited to a medical episode. Care is built around helping your loved one live safely and comfortably at home long-term.

What sets us apart is that we do more than simply send a caregiver. We create a personalized care plan, coordinate discharge planning when your loved one returns home from the hospital, and provide daily personal care, live-in care, and respite care as needed. We also offer things like AI fall detection, wearable monitors, and robotic companion pets, so families can breathe a little easier knowing their loved one is supported.

Activities of Daily Living, which are also frequently referred to as ADLs, are basic-self care tasks that a person needs to be able to perform in order to live independently. These typically include: Bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring (such as moving from bed to chair), eating, and continence.

ADLs matter because many benefits programs use them to determine eligibility. Most long-term care insurance policies require that a person need assistance with at least two ADLs before benefits begin. Certain veterans’ programs require assistance with three ADLs to qualify for home care services.

If your loved one is struggling with these daily tasks, we can help assess their needs and guide you through the next steps for coverage and care planning.

This is a pretty common question we get from families. Live-in care means that one caregiver lives in the home and provides care throughout the day and the night. They help with personal care, mobility, meals, companionship, medication reminders, housekeeping, errands, and transportation. They sleep at night but remain available if your loved one needs them.

24-hour, round-the-clock care includes multiple caregivers who rotate in shifts (typically 8-hour shifts), coming in and out of the home throughout the day and night.

Live-in care with Options Home Care means your loved one has one caregiver consistently, day after day. Your loved one gets to know them. Trusts them. Looks forward to seeing them. That kind of familiarity doesn’t happen with a rotating staff — it builds over time, and it makes a real difference.

Their caregiver can help them with things like getting around the house, meals, and companionship. If your loved one is coming home from the hospital, they can help coordinate the whole transition so nothing falls through the cracks.

At Options Home Care, we accept private pay and long-term care insurance.

Long-term care insurance is a private policy purchased years before care is needed, often in your 40s or 50s. It helps cover extended support with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility due to aging, illness, or disability. Unlike health insurance, it is designed specifically to pay for ongoing custodial care at home, in assisted living, or in a skilled nursing setting.

If you have long-term care insurance, benefits begin once you meet eligibility requirements, which typically include needing help with two or more activities of daily living or having a cognitive impairment. Our team works directly with all long-term care insurance companies to verify your coverage, initiate your claim, document services, and guide you through the reimbursement process so you can focus on care rather than paperwork.
