Home health care provides short-term medical services in the home, such as therapy or nursing care, typically ordered by a physician and performed by a licensed healthcare professional.
In-home senior care focuses on daily support. It helps with Activities of Daily Living like bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, transferring, and continence.
At Options Home Care, we assist with everyday life through personal care, meals, mobility support, companionship, and memory care. Services are ongoing and tailored to help your loved one remain safe at home. We also provide personalized care plans, discharge coordination, and flexible care options. Additionally, our AI-enhanced in-home senior care tools help families stay connected and informed while their loved one remains independent at home.
Rather than only supporting a condition, we support the whole person.
ADLs are essential tasks for independent living, including:
Many benefits programs use ADLs to determine eligibility. In fact, most long-term care insurance policies require that a person need assistance with at least two ADLs before benefits begin. Certain veterans’ programs require assistance with three ADLs to qualify for in-home senior care services.
If your loved one needs help with daily tasks, Options Home Care is here to assist. We can assess their needs and guide you through the next steps for coverage and in-home senior care planning.
Live-in care in Southern Maryland provides one consistent caregiver who stays in the home and supports daily routines and overnight needs.
24-hour care is different because it involves multiple caregivers rotating shifts to provide continuous awake supervision.
At Options Home Care, our live-in care offers consistency, familiarity, and a stronger caregiver relationship, along with full support for daily living and transitions home from the hospital.
We also provide hourly care for families who need support during specific parts of the day rather than full-time live-in care. This includes help with personal care, meal preparation, mobility, companionship, and recovery after a hospital stay, giving families flexible options based on their needs.
At Options Home Care, we accept private pay, long-term care insurance, and Medicare Part C Advantage Plans.
Long-term care insurance is designed to help cover extended support with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility. These policies are usually purchased in advance, often earlier in life, and are intended for ongoing care rather than short-term medical treatment.
Our team works directly with all long-term care insurance companies to verify your coverage, initiate your claim, document services, and guide you through the reimbursement process so you can focus on care rather than paperwork.
Many of our veteran clients receive care through the VA’s Homemaker and Home Health Aide Care program. This program is part of VA health benefits and provides non-medical assistance in the home to help veterans remain safe and independent. Services typically include help with bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and other daily activities.
As an accredited VA community care provider, Options Home Care can be paid directly by the VA to provide approved in-home senior care services.
To qualify, veterans must:
Once approved, we work closely with the VA and the assigned social worker to deliver consistent, personalized care at home. We can also help you through the application process.
Some veterans and surviving spouses might also qualify for additional support through programs such as VA Aid and Attendance, which can help cover non-medical in-home senior care costs depending on service history, discharge status, care needs, and financial guidelines.
In-home senior care can often begin within 24 to 48 hours, depending on your needs. If you are facing an urgent situation or hospital discharge, we move quickly to put support in place.
Yes, we can coordinate in-home care with your loved one’s healthcare provider, including discharge planning, so care transitions are smooth, organized, and well supported at home.
In-home care allows seniors to remain in familiar surroundings while receiving exceptional care tailored to their daily needs. Instead of moving into an assisted living facility, they can continue their routines with support from trained caregivers who help with mobility, meals, and daily tasks. This approach helps maintain independence while improving comfort and overall quality of life.
